fortunedetective:

“I believe the only thing I will be feeling in one of these,” Naoto replied dryly, motioning toward a translucent, lacy bra, “is uncomfortable.” Maybe if the ones on the mannequins weren’t so intimidatingly flashy— she wouldn’t mind something simple that covered more than some of the lingerie she noticed as she trailed behind Rise like a lost puppy but she knew the idol would find some way to shove her into something risque. The detective wasn’t sure that her friend had heard her since she was so busy scouring the store and part of her was content with her distress falling on deaf ears; the less she argued, the quicker they would be able to leave. At least, she hoped that was the correct philosophy.

Rise promised she wouldn’t buy anything “that weird” but Naoto knew her definition of outrageous was far different than the detective’s. She walked up behind the idol and peered apprehensively beyond the girl at the display she was transfixed on, a trace of a displeased frown lingering on the twitching corners of her mouth. How could she wear brightly colored undergarments and expect her colleagues to take her seriously? She’d be the laughingstock of the station if anyone found out she had florescent panties on. How unprofessional. Naoto opened her mouth to ask if they could shop at a lingerie store that omitted extravagant designs and colors but Rise interrupted her train of thought with a stinging remark about her current taste in underwear.

“Boxers are comfortable!” She retaliated far too quickly, her face turning red when she noticed that she’d caught the attention of a few other shoppers nearby. “I-it’s difficult to  break old habits, Rise-san…” Naoto trailed off, her eyes following the neon bundle of strings as it swung in the idol’s grasp. The thong was practically alien to the detective, who seemed mesmerized by the slight pendulum swing of the foreign piece of clothing. She blinked slowly, switching her attention from the glaringly bright underwear to the idol who was holding it far too close to her face.

“What is it, exactly?”

While Rise had expected Naoto to never have entertained the thought of wearing thongs, she didn’t think she’d be completely unaware of what it was. “Sheesh, Naoto, how sheltered are you? It’s a thong, silly! Y’know, underwear?” she teased, still dangling the undergarment in the air. “I guess they’re kinda uncomfortable, but they’re cute!” Of course, that would never convince the detective to even consider wearing one. “Not that I expected you to seriously buy it anyway.”

She was about to return the undergarment back to where it was being displayed, when another idea suddenly popped into her head. The store had plenty of vacant changing rooms at the moment. It should be fine, right? And they were both girls—good friends, at that. Naoto shouldn’t have a biiiiiig problem with it, right?

“C’mon, let’s try it on for laughs!” Rise suggested with a huge grin on her face, lightly pushing Naoto towards the changing rooms.

theprotagonistnarukami:

“Teach you? That’ll take a lot of work,” Yu replied as he recalled how her folded crane looked like a piece of crumpled paper with wings attached to it. He fought back the urge to remind her how he teased her with a monotoned “You suck.” He smiled a bit and nodded his head, “I look forward to it.”

“It’s enough,” He decided to drop the subject considering his present was only a piece of paper. Plus, the price of useless items like Neo Featherman action figure and the Loveline umbrella only reminded him how embarrassingly light his already debilitated wallet was.

Her classic enthusiastic reply relieved him. It was reassuring to know that his prolonged absence had no effect on her eagerness to see him. She was always upfront with her admiration, and he couldn’t help but feel worrisome that her high opinion of him would diminish once they had no mystery to solve.

“Memorizing lines? You mean something like, ‘I can’t live without you’?” his reply was dry as usual and the heartfelt emotions of the stereotypical line of the drama was lost in his voice.

“Alright then, it’s a date,” He paused, “That’s one of those drama lines too, right?”

“Hmph,” Rise pouted playfully. “I’ve been practicing, y’know. …A little,” she admitted. Origami never really interested the idol until her Senpai came along, but now she was determined to learn - or at least, to spend more time with him in the process.

She burst out laughing, clearly amused at Yu’s imitation of character in a drama. “C’mon, Senpai, you gotta say it with more feeling!” she criticized, mocking his deadpan tone.

“Haha, you sure you didn’t write the script for one of these or something?” There was just no end to his jokes, was there?

“Hmm…where should we go?” Just recently coming back to Inaba, Rise thought maybe he would like to re-familiarize himself with the town, but on the other hand there wasn’t much to do for a ‘date’-like setting.

fortunedetective:

The train ride was where most of her regrets began to breed. What had she been thinking when she asked Rise to show her how to be feminine? It was no longer a chance to bond with her friend, but a free-for-all for an infamous shopaholic. The detective predicted bankruptcy at the end of the day, and several overtly girly articles of clothing that would never see the light of day once they hit the back of her closet. Naoto fidgeted beside Rise, biting down on the inside of her cheek each time she heard a squealed comment about the idol’s plans for her.

She stood as the train ground to a halt at the station, stumbling after Rise like a lamb led to the slaughter. The detective peered at the the shops stationed nearby, gauging which ones would pique the idol’s interest, and glanced over at her friend to see which ones she was looking at. Naoto blinked and followed her gaze to the building directly infront of them. Her face blanched first, and then turned an unhealthy shade of red. “H-here?!” It didn’t help that the display windows were adorned with pictures of starkly dressed models or the sign with the pink letters that spelled out her death. Victoria’s Secret. Most likely a store that sold the same bra and panty set that the models were wearing.

“Perhaps we could go to another store fir—.” Rise, intent on visiting said store she was trying to avoid, stormed off in the direction of the building. Naoto hesitated, glancing back at the train like she was considering bolting back to the safety of a crowded car instead of being forced into an ill-fitting bra. She sighed, turning back so she could follow Rise into the store. Her face progressively grew redder as she stepped through the doors, promptly tugging her hat down to avoid meeting the curious stares of onlookers. They probably thought the former idol had snagged a rather unimpressive boyfriend while she was in Inaba. Naoto wrinkled her nose at the overwhelming smell of perfume and risked a peek at the mannequin beside her. “Isn’t it a waste to purchase lingerie? No one will ever see them under the clothing I wear.”

“Naoto-kun, being more feminine isn’t just about what other people see,” Rise immediately countered, prepared for her friend to say something of that nature, “you gotta feel like it too, y’know?” she darted around the store, already knowing where everything was located. It was going to be a difficult task to find anything Naoto wouldn’t immediately throw back on the rack, let alone try on. “I won’t buy you anything that weird, not even I wear that stuff.” …Most of the time. She finally stopped at a display of several sets of panties and bras—the least-outrageous ones in the store she could see, still brightly colored but at least not covered in lace and sparkles and the like.

“Seriously, though, you’re not gonna feel more girly if you keep wearing boxers and those weird bindings—”

As Rise allowed her eyes to wander from the display, she immediately noticed a pile of the raciest type of undergarmet out there on one of the shelves. Oh man, she’d never go for this. She knew nothing would come of suggesting Naoto try on a thong—other than a bright-red detective screaming and possibly making a mad dash towards the exit.

Nevertheless, Rise’s sense of humor got the best of her.

“Pfft, Hey, Naoto-kun, how ‘bout one of these~?” she teased, holding up one of the neon-colored thongs and dangling it in front of her.

foolish-fortune:

Minako looked the idol over with a curious look, her hand resting on her chin in deep thought. “Rise… Rise… I know that name…”. She continued to think for a few seconds before her eyes lit up with sudden realization. “You were on something! A.. a poster? No, a commercial! That’s it!”

Rise laughed as the girl tried to recall where she had seen her before. Considering all the posters and commercials she’s been featured in, she’d have to be way more specific.

“Haha, really? Awesome!” she commented, attempting to hide that she couldn’t for the life of her remember which out of the several commercials she’s attended shoots for she could be referring to.

little-lost-child:

The Shadow growl with frustration. If she have a Soul Drop for everytime someone asks her those two questions? She can go about all week casting magic on everything every two seconds and still be in full SP at the end.

“I have already met my host.” Her glare hardens at the idol. If she could use magic without transforming, there would already be Agidyne everywhere by now.

Rise didn’t need Kanzeon’s powers to sense the shadow was filled to the brim with anger. Still, though, its answer did nothing to help the idol’s confusion.

“Well, of course you’ve met her…she accepted you, didn’t she?”

adachiininaba:

*He was sure that question had been made only because of the circumstances, without really giving it a second thought. Yet to Adachi it was hard to answer to it: what had he been up to? Fighting and finding himself? Looking everywhere for a job? Trying to ignore people’s insults? No, you don’t give that sort of deep answer to a question that didn’t presumed any insight of the sort. But Adachi found absolutely hard to give a superficial answer to Rise, because of their…relationship? was it right to call it that way? He had to be clear, firm but hopeful, speaking optimistic words. Or at least, he had to fake it.*

M-mh, well, I…I-I’ve just…roamed around y’know, nothing special…a-and you!?

Rise figured it was a silly question that would merit such an answer, but it was the first thing that came to mind, and she preferred it to the otherwise awkward silence that would inevitably have come over the two.

It couldn’t have been that simple. Even after so long, no one in Inaba forgot all the things Adachi had done to disturb the peace of the small town.

“O-oh, I’m…just working at the tofu shop, usually. I don’t get many jobs as an idol anymore,” she answered—due to the time that’s passed, she was nearly irrelevant to the public at this point.

“Um…it must be hard,” she remarked, referring to Adachi’s current situation.

fortunedetective:

Naoto was aware her desire to be more feminine was going to come as a shock to her friend (Hell, it was pretty surprising to her too) but she received the desired reaction. Careful deduction helped her anticipate the shrill, inhuman squealing noise that came out Rise’s mouth, though she still grimaced regretfully at her classmate’s enthusiasm. She just wanted to see what she was missing out on but just making the request was like a drop of blood in shark-infested waters. “R-really.” She confirmed weakly, nodding in the idol’s direction to show that she was serious about her request.

The redhead was just too excited and it worried the detective more than she anticipated. “Rise-san, wouldn’t it be more practical to go to Jun—?” It was closer and probably less expensive than wherever the idol intended for them to go but she had her arm in a vice grip before Naoto could refuse. She half-walked, half-stumbled after Rise, sighing in defeat when the train station came into view. “Since I suggested this, I’ll take responsibility for the tickets.” She pried her arm from her friend’s grasp, approaching the booth with her hands buried in her pockets. Placing a handful of money down on the wooden surface, the detective took tickets from the apathetic-looking man on the other side of the glass.

Naoto glanced at the train awaiting them as she approached Rise, holding out one of the white slips to her, “Shall we?” She walked toward the open doors, beckoning the idol to join her.

Finally releasing her grasp from Naoto’s arm as she payed for their train tickets, Rise sighed at the detective’s suggestion to simply go to Junes, though she expected her to say something along those lines. “C’mon, Naoto-kun, you know we’ll never find anything good there. You gotta be original and make a statement!” she nagged, taking her ticket from Naoto and boarding the train with her.

For the entire duration of the ride, the redhead could barely stand still, or for that matter, keep her mouth shut. “Oh man, this is gonna be so fun! I already know all the stores we’re gonna look at!” The only times she was quiet were the times where she was carefully planning each stage of the transformation in her head. She’d definitely have to get Naoto out of her comfort zone when it came to shopping for clothes, but that’s probably why she asked for a friend to come along in the first place, and hey, who better for a shopping trip than a former idol? She never really wore much makeup either—then again, did you see how she styled Teddie for the cross-dressing pageant? She’d have to come back to that one later.

The train came to a halt and Rise quickly rose up off her seat and exited, Naoto following behind. They’d immediately come face-to-face with a store she had in mind, but wasn’t quite sure if Naoto would comply. But hey, it was right there, so why not? “C’mon, let’s get started!” Rise said, ignorning her friend’s bright red face and terrified expression.

And with that, they walked into the Victoria’s Secret.

kanjithekanbee:

“What?? Oh, yeah, I’m okay.”

A small laugh came from the tall male. He needed to stop doing that. People are going to start to worry about him. It was a weird sight to see someone just stop talking and watch nothing really. People can’t see inside your mind, so no one knows what could be happening in that moment.

Kanji swung his head around, then rolled his shoulders. “So… Uh…”

Damn, he was really bad at conversations.

“You sure? You look like something’s on your mind.”

She’d hoped her friends could still talk about things to her if they needed to—nevertheless, no matter how long they’ve known each other, Kanji could be an awkward one.

“C’mon, Kanji, you sound like a preteen on his first date!” she teased.

She decided she’d ask another question to get a conversation going, though she wasn’t sure what her friend was really up to as of late. “So, have you had any big projects lately? You still gotta teach me how to make those rabbit plushies, y’know!”
